An effect inspired by Dan Harlan's 'Traveling Cash' routine. A rubberband is stretched around the fingers of a spectator. A bill is folded over the top strand of the band.
With a subtle flick it penetrates directly through, leaving it wrapped around the second strand. Another pull and it penetrates directly through. All can be examined.
Nowadays 99% of cell phones take a picture. You go to 'camera mode' and press the button. It's done.
Digital Conviction makes beautiful use of that feature. It can be performed anywhere and anytime with all borrowed objects. A picture is taken of a card, on THEIR own phone, with THEIR initials on it ---- and then changes to THEIR selected card with THEIR initials on it.

Here is what happens in the effect.
You approach the spectator and remove a joker or any card out of the deck. You say, "We will use this as the wild card but we'll get back to that in a moment. Will you please select any card?" The spectator has a free choice of any card, nothing is forced.
The selected card then gets lost in the deck. "Now let’s get back to the Joker." You remove the joker and place their initials on the corner of the joker. You REALLY DO place THEIR REAL INITIALS on the ACTUAL JOKER. They see it and confirm it.
"Remember the joker is the wild card. Let’s make this moment memorable and take a picture." You now borrow their camera phone and take a picture of the joker with their initials. The spectator CONFIRMS AND SEES that the picture being taken on the camera phone is the joker with their initials.
The phone is immediately handed to the spectator and placed face down in their hand so that the change of the card is not revealed until you want it to be. Now the magic begins: first phase. "If I take the joker that we just took a picture of and give it a little shake in my hands you can see that it changes to your selected card".
With a closer examination the spectator sees that her initials are now ON the selected card instead of on the joker!
Now you go in for the kill.
"If that card changed in my hand then the picture on the phone in your hand should have changed too…"
Savor the reaction of your spectator realizing that they saw you take a picture of a joker with THEIR initials on it and it changed to their selected card with their initials on it.

The spectator is asked to scroll through and randomly stop at any song in the playlist, while the iPod is out of site-behind their back or under the table. The magician fills an empty transparent glass with water, beer or any other beverage and then drinks it. He then places the glass on a tray (or a book, a wooden plate or a glass plate) and places a silk over it. He now asks the audience if the glass is heavy or light. He asks a spectator to lift the glass a little bit, which is no problem. The glass seems to be light, as the spectator (it could even be a child) can easily lift it up. The glass is then placed onto the tray again.
Now the magician looks into the spectator's eyes while saying "The glass is heavy. It's really heavy. It's so heavy that you cannot even pick it up." The spectator tries to lift the glass but with no success! It's simply too heavy for him to pick up! It seems to be heavier than lead, heavier than gold, heavier than any known material!
The magician breathes against the glass and it becomes light again, so that even a two year old child can pick it up! It's nothing more than an ordinary drinking glass. But... ... if the magician wants it so, even the strongest man can't lift it up. Just a simple breath and the glass is as light as a feather again.

IMPACT OF LEVITATION: the performer talks about harnessing power from the earth. He asserts that a technique has been found to levitate from the ground - just a few inches - and they will see this happen visibly.
The performer is seen to rise three to four inches- and hover- momentarily. He immediately walks forward to the spectators and they can examine his feet, shoes, and anything about him - there is nothing to find because there IS nothing.
There is no surprise element - you TELL the spectators that you are about to levitate, then they watch you DO it. This is not the Balducci, Zero Gravity or any other.
Rich has been writing on spectators for years. In fact, when he walked into the Ellusionist Studio to film the project, he walked up to Brad Christian and instantly tagged Brad.

Questions (and answers directly from Rich Ferguson):
If there is a setup, how long can it be setup before performing the trick? Iis there a time limit or anything like that? It varies tremendously as we've included several methods, reveals, techniques, etc... During a show, the setup is seconds and there is not really a time limit. The biggest time commitment is in the original making of the tool you need to mark people. It is also easy and will require some very common and readily available items.
If there is a gimmick, can it be made or does it come with the trick? There are different effects that kill in this DVD. There are even different methods to the actually writing on someone without them knowing, that portion is what people seem to be focused on. There are effects and techniques I'm giving up that can be done 100% impromptu and others that are more complex, but still bomb proof. I would not call anything a gimmick because it implies that there is some 'thing' that does that magic for you. For instance, you do not call a sharpie a gimmick when people sign a card with it. I'd rather call items like this your tools. You will be involved and decide that type of effect you want to pull off. This is not one of those DVDs that teach a 'trick' with limits. There are effects that are absolute reputation makers in this DVD that could require you to make something very simple. We've included a couple methods and they take a few minutes to make, but last years. I'll add, I'm teaching actual techniques that you can manipulate in other ways you want.
Is the gimmick hard to make? If you are in prison, it can be difficult to smuggle in the very common supplies. The rest of us will have no trouble at all. I will say, and I'm sure I'll repeat it often, the desire to figure out the method is complicated to address because there are so many awesome methods and effects in the DVD. Not exactly related, but it's like asking is playing the piano hard? Depends on what you are playing! The cost of the extra items needed vary from $0 to about $20 depending on your living arrangements. 'WHAT?!' you ask. If you have a mom with lots of craft stuff laying around, you might be able to get it for free. Otherwise some very basic stuff which costs a few bucks each and last a long time.
What is the difficulty level? All. It is flexible and allows you to decide. Again, since there is a lot of content and ideas in the DVD, this will be the perfect resource for all ages and skill levels. There are always ways to push the envelope, right? No matter where you are at with ability, mentalism, cold reading, influence, etc, we are giving tools to let you slam dunk effects without a lot of insane skill. For those who want to push the envelope, we have material for you too. I've included my two favorite effects with books and newspapers.
Is there a setup time? A few seconds to minutes depending on the effect. On live tv, I did an effect that took extensive preparation and was accused of being 'in on it with the host' so I immediately did the same effect with nearly NO set up to the other tv host! I can't express how flexible this is.. depending on the effect you want to do.
Can you use any book? Yes. I do this at private homes all the time. There are methods included that allow you to use borrowed items along with your or just their entirely. I'm releasing some 'jazz mentalism' techniques that work very well for me.
Does the DVD really teach me EVERYTHING I need to know? There are sections on tagger methods and handling, predictions and forces(lots of great ones), psychological tests, and psychological tips. All together, there are many combinations of great items. Quite frankly, two effects and techniques included are my signature dictionary and another newspaper effect that is original to me. They should/could have been there own DVDs/effects.

Nick Verna created Factory Sealed. He tried something with plastic and water that no one had thought of before. It worked. He demo'd the effect at an International Brotherhood of Magicians meeting and in his own mild way simply "blew away the crowd". News spread in Internet chat rooms and forums, and the talk of the piece grew to mythic proportions.
People who saw Nick V. perform it insisted it was unlike anything they had seen before. Nick told no one how it was done.
Ellusionist took the basic principles Nick V. had invented and, together with Brad Christian, Justin Miller and Wayne Houchin, formed the genius effect into a perfect masterpiece.
The effect can be performed surrounded or for one person. Methods vary depending on how many audience members are present. The demo Adam Grace put on his own web site three years ago drew hundreds of emails. Adam then built the effect with Ellusionist to make this new effect practical. Three years later the hard work was rewarded.
Ask a spectator to wrap his own quarter in a plain napkin you give him. The magician doesn't touch either the napkin or coin until the spectator finally hands it to the magician to demonstrate the freezing. The napkin helps protect from the cold that will occur. [Note: there are no chemicals on the napkin and none in the magician's mouth or on his hands]
Summoning a change in his body temperature, the magician begins to blow freezing air onto the napkin, causing the napkin to become ice cold. He unwraps the quarter and, leaving it sitting by itself on the napkin, without even touching it, he blows on the coin.
The quarter frosts over white and freezes visually. When picked up by a spectator the coin is bitter cold and still white from frost.
Frozen was generated by the mind of Adam Grace. It is workable and practical. Our team noted that in every street performance the spectators had no answer except that Adam must have really changed his body temperature.

Q: Can iVanish be performed with dollar? A: Yes, iVanish can be done with quarters, half dollars or dollar sized coins.
Q: Can iVanish be done with objects other than coins? A: Yes, but there are limitations. We can't give too many details without spilling the all of the beans but you have to take size, weight and shape into consideration. For instance you could do it with a poker chip. A shard of broken glass may not be a good object...
Q: Can I perform iVanish with a borrowed coin? A: Yes. Ben goes into extreme detail on the subject
Q: Is iVanish angle proof? A: Yes and No. Each method has it's own strengths and weaknesses. For instance Ben's original method isn't angle proof for 360 degrees but it's very practical for the real world. 90% of the time Ben uses the original iVanish technique. However the second technique is called iBlind. As stunning as iVanish is and it really is stunning iBlind takes it up a notch. However the price you have to pay is it's not quite as practical. iDitch is 100% angle proof and is stunning too.
